Terms of Use

These terms set the rules for using this website. By visiting any page, running a search, or reading content here, you agree to everything listed below. If you do not accept these conditions, leave the site and do not use it further.

NO FCRA USE. West Virginia Court Docket is privately operated and is not affiliated with any local, state, or federal government body or court. Neither this site nor its advertising partners offer services for a purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site provides general information about West Virginia court dockets and record resources. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no ties to a government office or court. It does not store official dockets or court records, and it cannot retrieve a docket, change a court date, or file a document for anyone.

West Virginia has distinct Judiciary search channels. WVPASS indexes public Circuit Court records across the state; the Magistrate Case Record Search provides a separate index of Magistrate case information and does not provide documents. The court or clerk that holds a case maintains the official docket and responds to requests for copies. Third-party search tools may also appear on some pages, under their own terms and privacy practices.

2. Informational Use Only

Everything on this site is general information about West Virginia court dockets and case records. It is not a substitute for an official docket, a court order, or an attorney’s advice. Confirm important information with the Circuit Clerk, Magistrate Court Clerk, or other court that holds the case.

3. Rules for Using This Site

Use the site lawfully and in a way that does not disrupt access for other visitors. In particular, do not:

  • Send bots, scrapers, or automated requests to collect the site’s content
  • Try to access systems or data without permission
  • Use information here to stalk, intimidate, or threaten another person
  • Use the service in violation of federal, state, or local law
  • Use any information for an eligibility decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Interfere with the site’s operation or another visitor’s ability to use it

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not generate background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports of any kind. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide services built for screening job applicants, reviewing rental applications, calculating insurance rates, or judging creditworthiness. You agree not to use data from this site or any linked tool to:

  • Set insurance rates or determine credit eligibility
  • Choose whether to employ or retain a person
  • Evaluate a housing or rental application
  • Decide whether someone qualifies for a license, permit, or government program
  • Make any other decision the FCRA regulates

If you need a background check for any of those purposes, use an FCRA-compliant screening company.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice. General information about West Virginia court dockets cannot tell you how a case, charge, order, or filing deadline applies to your situation. Speak with a licensed West Virginia attorney for legal advice.

6. Accuracy Is Not Guaranteed

Everything on this site is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that:

  • Every fact or detail is complete, correct, or up to date
  • A linked partner search will return a complete or accurate result
  • Access will be continuous or free of service interruptions
  • Each page will be free of software defects or security weaknesses

Dockets change constantly - cases are filed, hearings are set, settings get reset, and matters are sealed, dismissed, or amended. We try to keep up, but gaps are unavoidable. Nothing on this site should be treated as an official statement from a court or clerk. Always verify a docket entry or court date with the court that holds the case before you rely on it.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to county court resources, Judiciary portals, legal aid organizations, or outside search services. Following a link takes you to a service this site does not control. We are not responsible for its content, data practices, charges, or availability. Review its terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

All text, graphics, logos, and code on this site belong to West Virginia Court Docket or its content partners. You may not copy, distribute, modify, or build on the site’s content without written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

As far as applicable law permits, the site operator is not responsible for loss or damage arising from site use, reliance on site information, or the use of a service reached through an outside link.

10. Indemnification

If a claim or expense results from your use of the site or a breach of these terms, you agree to protect the site operator from that claim and cover related costs, including reasonable legal fees where allowed.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of West Virginia and applicable federal law. Any dispute about them is subject to the jurisdiction and venue rules that apply in West Virginia courts. These terms do not change public access to government records under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act or public access to judicial records under the West Virginia Trial Court Rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

The operator may revise these conditions over time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here, so review this section again if you continue to use the site.
